Bright Child Foundation is a Non-Governmental Orgainzation that is run on the initiative of a young lady, Sylvia Konney. She is a student of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Random African thought met up with the foundation and they had a lot of amazing plans. Sylvia spelt out the motive behind her brainchild and gave us amazing insights. This is what we gathered:

Their VISION is to reach out to thousands of needy children nationwide, provide them with educational materials (and food) and prepare them for higher education. The birth of BRIGHT CHILD FOUNDATION is to give the needy and less privileged hope of a brighter  future. It is their vision to cater for these students till they complete tertiary.

Their MISSION is to support the less privileged school children with basic educational materials which includes books, bags, pens and pencils, maths sets etc. And also pay their dues and levies. This they believe will reduce drop out rate and rate of absenteeism. it would also motivate these students to learn harder and aim for higher education.Their Mission is also to encourage these young minds to believe in themselves and study hard to be who they want to be without any hurdles or barriers. They also visit orphanages for donations and parties.

FIRST PROJECT-   They reached out to three Junior High school students. The pioneer benefactors are PRINCE LARSEY MENSAH a JHS One student who has dreams of becoming a Doctor, QUEENSTAR HELENA AWALINE a JHS Two student who has dreams of becoming a Lawyer/Fashion Designer and PRINCE SOWATEY ADJEI a JHS three student who has ambitions of becoming a Military Man. They supported these students at the beginning of the academic year with all the stationary needed and also settled their levies and dues. Afterwards they visited them in their homes to talk to their parents/guardians. They also call the school and go there when they need to.  It is their plan to cater for each student till they get to SHS.Going forward, the number of students would increase as they go to other schools. The Foundation currently has twelve students from three Junior high schools and their dream is to extend their territories as time goes on.

GOALS- To encourage the less privileged to study hard and focus on who they want to be. To also put smiles on the faces of the needy child and give them hope of a brighter future. To eliminate drop out and absenteeism from schools.

OBJECTIVES- To increase the needy child's accessibility to basic educational materials.-To improve their academic performances.-To make parents and members of the community aware of the essence of education.

Their main challenge now is funding. They indicated that they needed people out there to donate through cash or kind so they extend helping hands to more students.
